& Prototyping

CJM Engineering / Northern Ireland
3D Scanning & Prototyping

We capture existing geometry and produce printed prototypes to help you investigate a design before progressing to the next stage.

When CJM Can Help
  • You need to understand the geometry of a part or the space around it.
  • A fit or assembly question would be easier to answer with a physical model.
  • You want to review a proposed change before committing to a later manufacturing stage.
Typical Scope
  • 3D scanning of accessible geometry
  • Scan preparation and alignment
  • Geometry capture to support reverse engineering
  • 3D printed fit and form prototypes
  • Assembly and interface mock-ups
  • Design iteration from prototype feedback
What We Need

Tell us the part size, surface condition, areas of interest and required output. For printed parts, share the model, quantity, intended use and the dimensions or features you need to evaluate.

What You Receive

Depending on your brief, the package can include:

  • Scan or mesh files in an agreed format
  • Printed prototypes in the agreed material and quantity
  • Updated CAD where design changes are included
  • Observations from agreed fit or assembly checks

Scanning and printing suitability depends on size, access, surface, material and feature requirements. Prototype behaviour may differ from the final production part; test objectives and acceptance are agreed beforehand.

Start a project

A brief, drawing, CAD model or photographs of an existing part are enough to start a technical conversation.
