CJM Engineering / Northern Ireland
Reverse Engineering

We reconstruct existing components into usable CAD geometry when the original design data is missing, incomplete or no longer suitable.

When CJM Can Help
  • You have a physical part but no usable model or manufacturing drawing.
  • A legacy component needs documenting or adapting to fit a revised assembly.
  • You need a clean CAD model from measured geometry or supplied scan data.
Typical Scope
  • Component measurement and geometry capture
  • CAD reconstruction from parts or scan data
  • Rebuilding functional and mating features
  • Design changes to reconstructed components
  • Drawings from reconstructed CAD
  • Preparation for an agreed manufacturing route
What We Need

Provide photographs, the part or scan data, intended use and known mating features. We agree which dimensions are critical, how they can be measured, and whether the aim is to reproduce the part or improve its design.

What You Receive

Depending on your brief, the package can include:

  • Reconstructed CAD in agreed native or exchange formats
  • Manufacturing drawings
  • Agreed design changes and feature definition
  • Notes on measurement limitations and assumptions

Wear, damage and inaccessible features affect what can be established from a sample. Material, original tolerances and performance cannot be inferred from shape alone; these need separate confirmation.

Start a project

A brief, drawing, CAD model or photographs of an existing part are enough to start a technical conversation.
